Perception and Coherence
1. Review of conferences: If you haven't already, begin planning your time for the first contract period. Time will go by quicker than you think!
2. Writing Process Collaboration: Open your journal one. Explain your process to your partner, and tell them what your main area is for improvement this month. Collaborate on strategies for these focused improvements. What similar do you have in writing process? Differences? What goals do you have that might be similar?
3. Perception and Coherence: the difference between how we read our essays and how others read our essays. How can you be sure that your reader will receive the message you are sending and understand your essay?
We'll work today on constructing your paragraphs in ways that are clear and easy to follow. (coherent). And one of the tools to achieve this is Known-New-Old (KNO) Information. (Coherence ppt)
Homework: Select one of the body paragraphs from one of your most recent papers and check it for coherence. Print off the paragraph, mark it up and revise it. Bring it to class on Thursday.
